dude, the paper work is out of this world.
NOW the health insurance lady tamara has been dealing with thinks i was here all of february so i have to register with the canton of basel to prove that i wasn't even here until the 20th of february.
so i went to do this when i first arrived and they said i needed this swiss ID card.
fine. i went today with this card and i needed my passport which i stopped carrying around because i was told that i only needed this ID because it has my nationality on it as well as my work visa and F status for living here.
jesus.
so i have to go back tomorrow with a letter giving them rights to my first born son!
i laugh now at all this paperwork and weird shit i have had to do.
i will get my keys this week though.
so today tamara wanted me to meet her at the SBB with the kids around five and i jetted over to the old 80 bus to Pratteln to hit up the ikea to get the bed slats i forgot as well as a blanket and a pillow.
good thing i checked the other bus time table before going into ikea.
i got off the bus at around 10 after 6. last 80 bus home: 6:49. yikes!
got in and got out and the bus came at 640!
crazy. but i got a cool purple blanket and a purple bed sheet and a charcoal color throw blanket and a pillow.
the last things i need are a pot and a pan and a coffee grinder and probably a tea kettle.
i have not lived alone since moving to washington DC.
i am really looking forward to this...
what else...oh food.
people have been asking what the local food is like.
i say bread and cheese.
i had schnitzel in germany which i really enjoyed...simple sauce and some pork or maybe veal....
i have seen a few restaurants but when i look at the prices on the menu i am kind of in shock.
i had to take the kids out for lunch on tuesday cause of the scheduling of a couple of gernot appointments too close to really make it home so i went to fucking mick donalds.
i got them two happy meals and two milks.
total cost: almost 20 francs.
my large french fries and small vanilly shake was close to ten francs.
so this gives somewhat of an idea of the fact that i probably won't eat out very much.
i would like to eat out when i travel instead of eating out in basel i think.
i HAVE to stop eating bread. it's sick. it's all over the fucking place.
i have been eating spinach raw, avocados tomatoes and fruit but i still eat bread...i have found a nice grain bread but it's really hard to find a loaf of sliced bread....they have it here, called sandwich bread but it's really not something i am used to so i have to work on trying different ones.
i did find peanut butter but nothing organic.....and of course you all know about the lack of mac and cheese!
tomorrow i have to find this art store and get some supplies so i can do 'art therapy' day once a week for the kids.
gernot has an appointment at 3 tomorrow....and i think the week before easter he starts this crazy therapy called CIMT or something and his right hand will be in a cast or something.
he has some kind of spasticity in his right leg and he doesn't make much use of his right hand....i'm a jerk though and make him use it so that he can learn HOW.
my brother has absolutely NO use of his right hand. ever since he was born his right hand has been in a tight ball....he used to have to open it with his left...but this made my brother's left hook mighty strong. he used to bruise me by just grabbing my arm....freaky!
ok. i am really just rambling now and saying nothing either interesting or coherent.
two more days then i get to start the process of moving. whoop!
