so i took the kids out this afternoon after naps, finally a sunny non rainy afternoon, sans stroller. no big whoop.
what i noticed though was the fact that pretty much i was the freak playing with the kids while all the other people with kids were smoking or talking on the phone or talking to whoever they were with and completely ignoring the kids.
this is also true on the trams. not that i care but i figure what the hell, i am not with anyone else and i really like to engage kids.
on the metro with henry and cat i have always taught them to say hello and be nice but respectful and such but still....even on the DC metro other people were interacting with their kids.
just a bit odd...i will do more observing of this now that i am more aware of it.

I am curious about Europarenting; especially since I make a great deal about ridiculing the moms and dads at my Great American Neighborhood Park who play with blackberries instead of bairn, but maybe that's best for kids sometimes... so i bring my knitting instead. who knows?
