it was grand. massive. it was so much bigger than dachau.
especially birkenau. i wasn't expecting such a big camp but there it was.
over one million people died in the camps auschwitz/birkenau....
seeing all the kids clothes/toys/shoes was really hard to swallow. the giant glass case of hair....the glasses, shoes...
we were supposed to go to nowa huta today but i guess we're not going now. not sure on that just yet.
leaving today for warsaw again and then to berlin.
it's been....interesting.
best part of auschwitz tour if there could be a best part was this group of three ladies, australian i think, who said 'they really should do something to make this tour more up beat' seriously?

Oh my, they did not!? Wow that's naive. I have yet to go to a holocaust memorial even without crying before the end.... going to the site i cannot imagine not starting to cry at the beginning. of course it's not upbeat! they should have known that when signing up.
