artist statement

so i have to write an artist statement about myself....like a resume.

i have to write about my art...why i do it....where it comes from but it's hard to put into words.

this was a statement i used in artomatic in DC last year.

"i am a collage artist. i cut up other people's pictures and put them where i think they should go in order to make a statement about poverty, politics, religion, people and the ridiculous. i love people. i enjoy doing this because i have been able to read about other cultures, religions, ideas and regions of the world we live in."

then my pal brian wrote this about my art:

"bracing...agitprop for a nation of channel surfers....marcoccia's work evokes our worse fears and living nightmares from the jumbled sensory overload that now grips our culture, all without the ham-handedness of political solganeering." -brian greyard, art guy.

i really like this so i want to keep it as short and simple as possible.
