ahh, so i walked across the boarder to the old country this morning to check out the shopping center tamara is always gushing about.
one can walk and drive pretty much freely into germany there at the Zoll (zoll booth workers carry sidearms) and go into the center.
i wasn't sure if i was supposed to get a customs form but remembering trips to mexico i decided that even though i spent 40 euro that i should probably get one just in case.
on the way out everyone has a form stapled with the receipts of their purchases.
i was told that over 300 euro then there is a tax levied.
i wasn't worried. i did see some people just walking back across without stopping at this booth so i am not sure i have to really do this depending on what i have spent in germany.
the zoll workers are mean. this one guy cut in line and the scruffy looking mean german man chewed his ass out in german and escorted him toward the end of the line. then the lady ahead of me didn't have her swiss ID just her passport and she was looking for her ID and the guy sent her to the back of the line telling her to have her ID ready next time. HEINZ!
so i have this odd looking swiss ID card that is not like the regular ID cards and the guy took a moment to read it all and he even smiled at me which i thought was nice of him and i said danke and wandered back home. it was not a long walk at all....i saw a miniature golf course. oooh!
so marktkauf is just a giant wal mart german style. but they had honey nut cheerios which was awesome...they also had kinder candy for way cheaper than in switz...though i have to say that with the exchange rates, i think i could just as well shop here....
i got a dish drainer thing though so this was great....and a tiny basket for my fruits....good times.
i think i am going to assemble my vacuum and irritate my jerky swiss neighbor that won't say hi to me when i go outside....then i go to coop and maybe purchase a plant!
