i didn't know it but this morning was another one of running all over the canton of basel until after 12. sometimes it really feels like a stinker that both kids never really get to do much for fun besides just riding trams and walking for a bit on the river.
i play with them and yesterday afternoon i finally got a moment to take them to the park!
did i mention this weird observation by mom?
one day i mentioned that i was working with gernot on being more gentle. much like my brother, i simply don't think gernot knows his own strength with his stronger left side so he tends to push hard and pinch (which fucking hurts) and hit his poor brother in the head. so tamara said and i am serious "i think because he is dehydrated he hits harder". really? i pump them full of water all day and i have a feeling gernot isn't dehydrated much at all and i have yet to find medical evidence suggesting violence being related to dehydration. delusion yes, violence, not so much!
i am finished (almost) with the book 'the reader'. it has to be the easiest book i have read in a long time....however it brings up interesting philosophical questions of morality, memory and forgiveness.
i feel like i should go see the movie.
the ending is terribly sad. in fact the whole damn story is pretty somber.
then again, i've been into reading about the war since being here. i picked up another book by michael chabon about a jewish man living in alaska. i liked the amazing adventures of kavalier and clay so i hope this one is just as good. we'll see. high five to sarah for getting me the kavalier and clay book!
i made my black beans last night and today i bought a pack of six tortillas for 7 francs. good god!
i like how i have to ask for ibuprofen at the pharmacy and it's 6 francs for 10 of them. so that's on my wish list. a giant bottle of generic target brand/cvs whatever of ibuprofen!
i was asked to do finger painting after naps today.
tomorrow is saturday and i will venture to kaserne on the 8 tram to see what kind of furniture they have in this store i see there on my way home....i will also be getting myself a travel ruck sack.
i will also purchase my ticket to milan and then from milan to rome...i think i will just take the train from milan....dunno. the flight is only 20 euro...hmmm....lots to consider.
i have photos on my camera that i have to upload and i will post them later on.....
i am so very tired and very excited to sleep in tomorrow
which means i will get up at 8 instead of at 6!
hurray!
