this is fucking golden....

i entered switzerland on february the 20th and now i have to pay 284 dollars for health insurance for most of a month that i wasn't even here

so tamara said i should have lied on the form when i registered in the canton of basel-- the question on the form was "when did you enter switzerland?" if i lied they would have known this because they took my passport and made copies of it and looked at the entry stamp for when i arrived here.

what i don't get is that i can be in switz as a US citizen without health insurance for 90 days and i didn't have my work visa until after the first of march. the lady on the phone said i was supposed to be covered from the day i moved here.....

they will also not pro rate the amount saying that i have to pay for the full month.....when i was only here for 8 god damn days of february...

i told her to send me the bill but i am going to email the person in geneva that gave me my work visa and see if he can help me figure out why they don't understand that everything states i didn't start my job until the first of march....

another sucky thing is that tamara and joachim also have to pay this amount since we both pay into my health plan....we each pay 284 a month for it.

well now maybe i can get prescription sunglasses...
