happy monday

i used my cell phone to wake up but had to set it for midnight.

i need:

an alarm clock
cereal
soy milk

they eat bread and jam all the time!
i like bread and jam, don't get me wrong but there isn't a toaster and i am a big fan of toast!

the kids are still sick and i keep trying to get them off me!

the weather is grim
all the signs are confusing to me so i have to write a lot down
a lot of people speak english so that's not really a big deal thankfully

the kids are very mommy centric and she still hasn't told them she was going to work so i have tried to get her to tell them so they have a better understanding that i am the one that will be here to take care of them.

i mail off the forms to this woman to get this flat. hopefully she gets them in time.

i don't have a registration with basel yet so i hope that won't matter much either.

i downloaded hotspot shield for my computer so that i can watch hulu or any other US website streaming show but it makes my computer very slow and buffering takes 239482935 hours so that's a wash.

i will miss LOST so i am going to have to avoid spoilers!

i wrote to a bunch more apartments but so far no one has gotten back to me

maybe no one wants to rent to someone from the US.

i thank sarah for the letter in german and in english!

i was crying last night and was caught by the lady of the house and she kept asking me whey i was crying. she doesn't really yet know that i am just a crier....i wasn't weeping for any particular reason...just feeling weepy and i was tired. nothing doing.

i think i am still not sure how to process the fact that i am six hours ahead of all my friends....

oh and she said it was weird that i wore my hat all the time and if she realized that her house was like 55 degrees she might understand! i always wear my hat in the winter. it's just what i do. it's how i roll. i am not here to change anyone but i am also not here to be changed.

i have my coffee cup and my french press...my journal and i finally have some swiss francs so i can get on the tram.

the tram is 3 bucks a pop so stop complaining that metro is too expensive. the 3 francs is just one zone! i can't imagine what the cost is for 5 zones.

cross fingers that i get this flat. it was so nice (the guy there was a pig) but i am clean so i am hopeful and it's across town so i wouldn't live too close to where i would work.

so yeah, that's all i guess. i am going to be writing a lot of where i am going today so i can remember where to take the children.

next week during fasnacht the kids have no playgroup so this will be good for my first week and i can take them to the festival on monday and just piddle around town to learn the lay of the land.

it doesn't seem to be a big city maybe a bit bigger than DC....i have to get a map!

she said they don't use words like north south east or west. i say well, how do you tell people where to go?

they say left right up or down

this makes little sense to my tiny brain.

tiny!

much love
