it's lent time in my world and i am giving up the lovely breads of switzerland.
i wish i could keep eating it day in and day out like i have but jesus, enough already.
i am also giving up nutella. glorious creamy smooth goodness in a jar. a glass jar.
tomorrow is paper recycling day. hurray.
also, i thought i had two laundry days this month. turns out i was very wrong. i had my day on the 12th and that's it. i have two in july.
i am not sure what i will do....today i did a secret load at work. i make sure i place everything exactly the way it was but this time there was lint in the dryer before i did laundry so i think she will know i did a load.
i have a sneaking suspicion that it really doesn't cost 40 francs to do a load of laundry but i could be wrong as i have yet to receive an electric bill. i moved in on april 28th. still no bill.
my landlord told me that they bill every three months so i am expecting one soon. thankfully i am not ever here during the days when the electric is more expensive and if i am here on the weekends, which is rare, i am hopeful that it's not too much. again, it's switzerland where a twix bar is close to 2 francs.
oh and the kiosk stores. the 7-11's if you will of dear schweiz. a coke.....2.60 francs. at the local migros or coop the same bottle is only 1.50 which is LESS than the twix bar.
but i forge ahead because i will no longer indulge these items.
for sweets i will eat fruits.
i've been enjoying apples with the kids so much so that my digestive system is also requesting some bananas.
once in a while i go crazy and get a bottle of fizzy water but i still can't find the deliciously non intrusive fizzy water i had in lugano....guess i will have to go back there one day.
this weekend i head to zurich to maybe my first movie in switzerland.
i have not watched television in four months besides illegally downloading LOST...thankfully sans commercials.
it's heavenly.
i babysat on friday night for the playgroup lady and they had a television but this book about the A bomb is better than any television show.
i can't believe i have been here already this long.
i do however, look forward to coming to DC in october for henry's bday and for outrageous good drinking times with my peeps.
i will be coming with a relatively empty sack so that i can import shit from thrift stores.
of course also excessive amounts of ibuprofen and allergy medication, pads (i know weird thing to want to bring back but one pack of 12 is almost 10 francs here.....one pack of 28 is 6 dollars US)
i am planning excursions to berlin and aushwitz....i will also go try my hand at skiing in the alps. it's been a very long time since skiing but what the hell....
some feller from the netherlands is coming to stay with me at the end of july via couch surfing so this will be interesting. i need a spare bed!
i only got paid once this month, on the first, as i requested....so now the half month is here and well, let's just say i am very glad i have a shit ton of black beans and pretzel snacks.
my bank card, ATM maestro card that is able to be used to purchase goods and services, has already been capped....thankfully it allows me to still remove precious swiss francs from the ATMs.
i will go lay down and read more about the A bomb while i mentally prepare myself for no bread. i figure after a few days it will be easy.....i came here quite svelte....but now i have a bread belly.....and a gin and tonic slash wine belly...argh....no self control!!!
peace!
